Dalmatian holds two prints of the spotted breed, one drawn and one painted.

Mike Sibley's pencil study was drawn from a Dalmatian that lived near him in North Yorkshire, chosen from the three its owner had. The drawing took around seventy-two hours. Mike Sibley trained at Leeds College of Art and is known for pencil drawings of extraordinary detail - a single head study can take seventy hours or more, and it looks as though every hair has been drawn. In his notes he points out that the breed are known in Britain as carriage dogs, because they guarded carriages and ran beneath the axles, and in America as fire dogs, because they cleared the road for horse-drawn fire engines.

The second print is a colour portrait by Ken Messom, who was born in Nottingham, worked as a litho-artist and retoucher, and has exhibited at the Royal Academy. It is around 41 x 28 cm before mounting.

Both are lithographs on fade-resistant paper with fade-resistant inks, and both are £19.99. If the breed or pose you want is not here, ask us - we are a small family business and we are happy to check.
