Terriers is one of the busiest sections in Dogs, with around seventeen prints covering most of the breeds people ask us for: Airedale, Border, Cairn, Norfolk, Bedlington, Scottish, West Highland, Yorkshire, Jack Russell, Bull Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Most breeds appear in more than one version. Mike Sibley's pencil head studies cover the Airedale, Border, Cairn, Jack Russell, Scottish, Westie, Yorkie, Bull Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Mike Sibley trained at Leeds College of Art and is known for pencil drawings of extraordinary detail - a single head study can take seventy hours or more, and it looks as though every hair has been drawn.
Alongside them are painted portraits by other artists: Border Terrier and Jack Russell by Ken Messom, who was born in Nottingham, worked as a litho-artist and has exhibited at the Royal Academy; Westie, Yorkshire Terrier, Bedlington, Bull Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier by Brian Hupfield, known for realistic dog portraits that capture each breed's character; and a Norfolk Terrier by Michael O'Brien. These colour prints are around 41 x 28 cm.
Every print is a lithograph on fade-resistant paper with fade-resistant inks, and most cost around twenty pounds. Bull Terriers and Staffordshire Bull have their own sections too. If the breed or pose you want is not here, ask us - we are a small family business and we are happy to check.
