Hertfordshire is one of the larger English sections, with a dozen Martin Goode watercolours spread right across the county.

In the west there are two views of Berkhamsted, one of them St Peter's church, built in 1222. Harpenden appears twice, and there are prints of Baldock, Royston, Ware, St Mary's church at Hitchin and the village of Willian near Letchworth. To the east, Sawbridgeworth gets two - Fair Green and Knight Street - and the village green at Westmill is one of the prettiest subjects in the whole section.

These are the everyday places of the county rather than its famous ones, which is exactly what Goode was good at: high streets, greens and parish churches drawn with care. Martin Goode was known for his attention to detail and his carefully constructed compositions, and his prints are small - around 15 x 10 cm or 20 x 13 cm before mounting - so they suit a standard off-the-shelf mount and frame.

Prices run from eleven to seventeen pounds. Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Middlesex all border Hertfordshire and each has its own section. If the place you are looking for is not here, ask us - we are a small family business and we are happy to check.
