Isle of Wight: Prints of Osborne, the Needles and Godshill
Eight prints of the Isle of Wight: Martin Goode watercolours of Carisbrooke Castle, Freshwater Bay, the Needles, Yarmouth, Shanklin and Godshill, a Philip and Glyn Martin limited edition of Godshill, and John Bird's signed print of Osborne House, Queen Victoria's summer home.

The Isle of Wight has eight prints by three artists, which is a lot of attention for an island of its size.
Six are Martin Goode watercolours: Carisbrooke Castle, where Charles I was held prisoner; Freshwater Bay; the Needles; the Square at Yarmouth; Shanklin Old Village; and Godshill, the thatched village with its church on the hill. Martin Goode was known for his attention to detail and his carefully constructed compositions, and his prints are small - around 15 x 10 cm or 20 x 13 cm before mounting - so they suit a standard off-the-shelf mount and frame.
Philip and Glyn Martin painted Godshill as well, so the village appears twice in two quite different styles. Philip and Glyn Martin print strictly limited editions, individually numbered out of 850 and hand signed, and each original watercolour is used for one edition only.
The eighth is John Bird's Osborne House, the former royal residence that Queen Victoria and Prince Albert used as a summer home and rural retreat. John Bird is a Doncaster-born artist who has painted for English Heritage, the National Trust and the English Tourist Board. His prints are around 41 x 28 cm and each one is signed and titled by hand.
The Goode prints are eleven to fourteen pounds, Osborne House is eighteen and the Martin edition is £29.95. Hampshire is just across the Solent. If the place you are looking for is not here, ask us - we are a small family business and we are happy to check.
