Middlesex has a single Martin Goode watercolour, of Pinner village.
Pinner is one of the best-preserved old villages on the north-west edge of London, with a High Street of timber-framed and brick houses climbing up to the parish church of St John the Baptist. It is a subject that has been painted many times, and Goode's version is a quiet, careful street scene rather than a postcard view.
Martin Goode was known for his attention to detail and his carefully constructed compositions, and his prints are small - around 15 x 10 cm or 20 x 13 cm before mounting - so they suit a standard off-the-shelf mount and frame.
The print is eleven pounds. Middlesex has largely been absorbed into Greater London, so for places nearby it is worth looking in the London and Hertfordshire sections as well - Hertfordshire has a dozen Goode prints of its own, from Berkhamsted to Sawbridgeworth.
