Nottinghamshire has two Martin Goode watercolours, both of Mansfield.
The Market Square is one of the largest market places in the Midlands, with the Bentinck Memorial at its centre. The Viaduct is the great stone railway viaduct that strides across the middle of the town - a subject that is far more handsome than people who have only driven under it expect.
Martin Goode was known for his attention to detail and his carefully constructed compositions, and his prints are small - around 15 x 10 cm or 20 x 13 cm before mounting - so they suit a standard off-the-shelf mount and frame. Both are the larger 20 x 13 cm size.
Each print is fourteen pounds. Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire all border the county and have their own sections, and John Bird's Hardwick Old Hall, just over the Derbyshire border from Mansfield, is in the Derbyshire section.
