Wiltshire: Prints of Stonehenge, Salisbury and Stourhead

Wiltshire has five prints by three artists, taking in its most famous monument, its cathedral city and some of its best villages and gardens.

Stonehenge is by John Bird, the stone circle on Salisbury Plain seen as a landscape as much as a monument. John Bird is a Doncaster-born artist who has painted for English Heritage, the National Trust and the English Tourist Board. His prints are around 41 x 28 cm and each one is signed and titled by hand. An original of this painting is also available.

Martin Goode painted Salisbury Cathedral, with the tallest spire in England; Castle Combe, often described as the prettiest village in the country; and the church of St Peter and St Paul at Marlborough, at the end of the town's broad High Street. Martin Goode was known for his attention to detail and his carefully constructed compositions, and his prints are small - around 15 x 10 cm or 20 x 13 cm before mounting - so they suit a standard off-the-shelf mount and frame.

Stourhead Gardens is a Philip and Glyn Martin limited edition showing the Palladian Bridge built in 1762. Philip and Glyn Martin print strictly limited editions, individually numbered out of 850 and hand signed, and each original watercolour is used for one edition only.

The Goode prints are eleven to fourteen pounds, Stonehenge is eighteen and Stourhead is £29.95. Somerset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire and Berkshire all border the county. If the place you are looking for is not here, ask us - we are a small family business and we are happy to check.
