Wales: Caernarfon Castle and the Brecon Beacons
Two prints of Wales, and two very different ones: Caernarfon Castle by Philip and Glyn Martin, all banded stone and polygonal towers, and Winter in Brecon Beacons by John Bird, which is upland and weather with no building in it at all. Both on archival paper with fade-resistant inks, never displayed, and sized for a standard mount. The John Bird is signed and titled by hand.

Wales is a two-print section, and the two could hardly be more different from each other.
Caernarfon Castle by Philip and Glyn Martin is the first. Caernarfon is the largest and most deliberately imposing of Edward I's Welsh castles, built with banded stone and polygonal towers to look like the walls of Constantinople, and it still dominates the town and the Menai Strait behind it. The Martins draw architecture with a clean, precise line, which suits a building whose whole argument is geometry.
Winter in Brecon Beacons, Powys by John Bird is the other: no building at all, just upland and weather. The Beacons under snow are a different Wales from the castle towns, and the two prints hung together cover a surprising amount of ground for a pair.
John Bird is a Doncaster artist who spent around thirty years in professional football before turning to painting full time. He has been commissioned by English Heritage, the National Trust and the English Tourist Board, and every one of his prints is signed and titled by him personally.
Both prints are printed on archival paper with fade-resistant inks, so they will not yellow or wash out over the years. Each has stayed in its wrapping since the day it was bought and has never been hung or displayed. Sizes suit a standard off-the-shelf frame and mount.
Two is a thin showing for Wales and we are aware of it. If there is a Welsh town, castle, harbour or stretch of coast you are looking for, it is worth asking - the catalogue is larger than the website and we are happy to check what we have.
