About the artist Pollyanna Pickering

She was born 1942 and began her art training at Rotherham Art School, where she met her husband Ken Pickering. She went on to study at London Central School of Art. After a brief period teaching art to A Level, she then went freelance. She married in 1963, but was sadly widowed at the age of 37. Her daughter Anna-Louise worked as her business partner. In 1983 Pollyanna won the Silver Palette award, in 1988 she was honoured to sit on the judging panel. In 1998 she became a member of the Court of the University of Derby, in the same year she was presented with Freedom of Bolsover and District in recognition of her charitable work in the area. In 2000 Pollyanna was honoured to receive the Wildlife Art Society's Millennium Trophy for wildlife painting. Pollyanna died in 2018.
