N.Ireland holds fifteen prints, all of them Martin Goode watercolours, and it is one of the more unusual sections on this site simply because so few people paint these places.
The selection covers Bangor in County Down, the Beaghmore Stone Circles in County Tyrone, Carlingford Lough, the Legananny Dolmen in the Mourne foothills and a string of other towns, harbours and monuments across the six counties. Some of it is prehistoric, some of it is Victorian seafront, and the range is wider than you would expect from fifteen pictures.
Beaghmore and Legananny are worth singling out. Both are prehistoric sites, and both are the kind of subject that usually only turns up as an archaeological photograph. Painted in watercolour they read quite differently, as places in a landscape rather than as monuments on a record card.
Martin Goode worked in watercolour and was known for his attention to detail and carefully constructed compositions. These are reproductions of those paintings, printed on archival paper with fade-resistant inks so they will not yellow or wash out. Each print has stayed in its wrapping since the day it was bought and has never been hung or displayed.
Prices in this section are mostly eleven to seventeen pounds. Sizes vary a little but most suit a standard off-the-shelf frame and mount, so there is no trip to a framer needed.
If you are looking for somewhere on the other side of the border, the Ireland section is separate and holds another fifteen Goode watercolours of Dublin, Galway, Cork, Waterford and Wicklow. And if the town you want is in neither, ask us - the catalogue is larger than the website and we are happy to check.
